The
VMC 81 Seven-Up is the most popular of all the upright 7UP machines
and the second rarest of the VMC 81s produced by the Vendorlator
Company. This machine originally came all white from the factory, but
it has become an acceptable practice to restore them with a green and
white paint theme, providing it is done correctly! Something to note:
The bubbles within the embossment square are not indented like the
1960s flat top 7UP achines. Some restorers will counterfeit a
7UP VMC 81 by cutting out the embossment from a 60's 7UP machine, and
welding it into a plainwrapper or unembossed VMC 81. I have met
buyers who have found this out after they have purchased one from a
less than honest dealer, who mis-represented the machine as
authentic. Something else to also remember, the VMC 81 7UP machine
always came from the factory with the small louver cabinets, and the
small embossed square on the front door where the VMC foil-cal was
applied. The one pictured is the real one.
* sub note: the
small machine pictured is the industrial carton cooler.
